Karakteristik pasien pre-operasi refraksi kornea di Rumah Sakit Mata Bali Mandara tahun 2018

Abstract

Introduction: In Indonesia, around 20.7% of blindness are caused by refractive error. Refractive error can be corrected in various ways, by using glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. This study aimed to determine the pre-operative characteristics of corneal refractive surgery patients at Bali Mandara Eye Hospital (RSMBM) in 2018 as a reference data for future studies.

Method: This was a descriptive retrospective study. Subjects were all patients who had undergone corneal refractive surgery at RSMBM in January 2018 – December 2018. The characteristics data were analyzed descriptively.

Result: The number of patients who had received corneal refractive surgery at RSMBM in 2018 was 348 people, of which 157 patients (45.12%) were women and 191 patients were men (54.88%). The highest age group of patients was 18-25 years (49.14%). The most common patients’ occupations was private employees (38.21%), most patients were from Bali (96.83%). Cosmetic reason (30.46%) was the most common purpose for patients to undergo corneal refractive surgery. Most corneal refractive surgeries were performed in March (10.63%). The most common diagnosis of pre-operative refractive errors was composite myopia astigmatism of right eye (88.22%) and left eye (85.92%). The most common degrees of refractive error was severe myopia in the right eye (38.50%) and left eye (36.21%). Most patients were treated by femto-LASIK (57.18%) as the method of corneal refractive surgery.
