Karakteristik penderita abses submandibula di Departemen THT-KL RSUP Sanglah Denpasar

Abstract

Submandibular abscess is the site of inflammation held by the pus in the submandibular region. Is an infection of the inner neck. The most common cause of infection. Germs are usually a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic germs. Knowing the prevalence of characteristics of submandibular patients in the ORL-HNS Department of Sanglah Hospital Denpasar. This study involved 36 patients who obtained the highest age in the age group 31-40 years (35.71%). Men numbered 22 people (61.11%) and women numbered 14 (38.89%). Patients receiving submandibula came with complaints of swelling under the jaw, as many as 36 people (100%), while for the source of infection from patients with submandibular abscesses in this study all of them helped from the teeth as much as 100%. The length of treatment for patients with submandibular abscesses was mostly verified for 7 days, which was 36.02%. The most sensitive types of antibiotics were obtained, namely cefepime and meropenem at 100% each. The results of the germ culture that were obtained most were Streptococcus Viridans, which numbered 15 people (41.67%). As many as 33 people (91.67%) in patients with submandibular abscesses in this study had no complications. The results of this study can be used as a guide in better and more effective management of submandibular abscesses.
