Peningkatan VO2max dan Kapasitas Paru Setelah Pelatihan Tari Panyembrama Pada Wanita Dewasa Muda di Denpasar

Abstract

Background: Regular physical activity is primary prevention which can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease. Aerobic physical exercise can cause cardiovascular changes that significantly increase aerobic capacity, endurance, and improve performance. This study aims to prove that Panyembrama dance training can increase maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) and lung capacity (FVC and FEV1.0) in young adult women in Denpasar.

Methods: This research is a quasi-experimental randomized pre and post test controlled group design. Group 1 received Panyembrama dance training and group 2 received moderate intensity aerobic training. This training was carried out three training sessions a week for 6 weeks.

Results: There was a greater increase in VO2max compared to the exercise group after training for 6 weeks. However, the increase in VO2max between before (8.30 ± 3.76) and after dance training (9.19 ± 3.73) was not significant (p=0.464). FVC lung capacity increased in the exercise group (p=0.514). FEV 1.0 lung capacity increased in the dance group (p=0.718) and decreased in the exercise group.

Conclusion: Implementation of a training program in the form of traditional Balinese dance is cheap and can contribute to maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) and lung capacity (FEV1.0).
